Thomas Francis Meagher was born in what is now The Granville Hotel on the Quay in Waterford City, Ireland and from the age of two lived at Number 19, The Mall. This celebrated Irish Patriot was the first to raise the green, white and orange tricolour which became our national flag. His burial site is adjacent to Faithlegg House Hotel with a marked tomb with detailed inscription.
