Unearth the unique history in Jerpoint Park with a unique guided tour along the footprints of a deserted 12th Century Medieval town – you will be immerced in the importance of this once thriving town called Newtown Jerpoint (situated near Jerpoint Abbey) mostly recognised within academic circles until April 2011 – when it was opened to the public. The site contains the Tomb Effigy of ST. NICHOLAS (Bishop of Myra). The Tea Rooms are available to the Coach Tours business or on request for larger groups where homemade scones are served with Teas & Coffees and also light lunches are available. ( pre-booked). ANGLING for wild salmon and wild brown trout on a 2km stretch of the River Nore is available for the fishing season with ghillie, rods & bait available for hire. SHEEP DOG DEMONSTRATION with sheep or geese is a fun and fascinating event to watch as it shows man and dog work together as one – herding. This unique attraction is owned and operated by Maura and Joe O 'Brien the current custodians and curators of this hidden jem.
